I start thinking about <em>days of yore</em> and before you know it somewhere in my memory there is food involved. Back, way back, when I was in high school taking drivers ed with my school pals and our teacher Mr. Miles, he would take us to various donut shops that he enjoyed. One was a place called Spudnuts in Sapulpa. There was the grubbiest donut man there but man, o' man could he ever make donuts. Spudnuts are donuts made with potato in the dough. Anyway, I found a recipe and decided to give it a try. Yes, they were delicious just like I remembered!</span></div>Katydidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10884918448853796408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781956561117240361.post-68791247909595034562008-08-15T04:47:00.000-07:002008-08-15T05:16:33.438-07:00Thriftin' Thursday<div align="center"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oyZ-qVSfGLc/SKVys3d4JNI/AAAAAAAAA0U/2lnToa38yiE/s1600-h/IMGA0141.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234716257017144530" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oyZ-qVSfGLc/SKVys3d4JNI/AAAAAAAAA0U/2lnToa38yiE/s400/IMGA0141.jpg" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family:arial;"> My very, very favorite find of the day was this GORGEOUS platter! Then we spotted the sign. <strong>Estate Sale</strong>. It was one of the best estate sales I have been to in a while. It seemed a little sad though going through someones home and barn. We both felt like intruders but it was obvious the decisions were made to sell it all. If I would have had a pickup truck with me I would have really brought home some stuff. </span><a href="http://bp1.blogger.com/_oyZ-qVSfGLc/SJJISrzrv_I/AAAAAAAAAxE/CzFz0btKPj0/s1600-h/DSCF5150.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5229321603164913650" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_oyZ-qVSfGLc/SJJISrzrv_I/AAAAAAAAAxE/CzFz0btKPj0/s400/DSCF5150.JPG" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family:arial;"> I have always wanted a whirligig and now I have one! </span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family:arial;">I think I gave$2 for this.<br /></span><a href="http://bp0.blogger.com/_oyZ-qVSfGLc/SJJH-RhzMCI/AAAAAAAAAw8/XumXY3OOzvk/s1600-h/DSCF5145.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5229321252513198114" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_oyZ-qVSfGLc/SJJH-RhzMCI/AAAAAAAAAw8/XumXY3OOzvk/s400/DSCF5145.JPG" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family:arial;"> This old Country Gentlemens magazine is awesome.</span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;">It is <strong>full</strong> of advertisements. My birthday is next Wednesday but you know how mid-week events go. Anyway, my daughter Amanda got the whole thing together. Hubby grilled his famous Burgers n' hotdogs yumm! Amanda made delicious Peach Tea, birthday cupcakes and a scrumptious Melon Basket! Earlier in the week my sweet Aunt Phyllis sent me a quilt that she had made. Was I ever surprised! What a treasure! Then my mother gave me another quilt that my dear Aunt Audrey had pieced together. It is gorgeous! I can hardly wait until cold wearther just so I can wrap up in those quilts! We had visions of tomatoes, beans, CORN, and sugarplums dancing in our heads for months! Then the Spring rains came. And it poured. And poured. And poured. So we planted it again. Again no CORN. </span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;">Then we realized we had a problem...with CROWS. So we planted CORN again and this time I placed Mr. Scarecrow in the garden. Our CORN began to grow. "Yes! We will have fresh CORN!" we shouted. Four dolly's, Ole' Glory, Sweetest Apron, 4 canning jars, several jar rings (for later), crochet doilie, Ceramic rooster (to join the others on my kitchen window sill, ceramic wren (so cute!), hand-crochet lace trim, and the wooden Coca-Cola crate (I will put it outside somewhere). It was driven and pulled probably hundreds if not thousands of miles by my little children whom are now all grown up. I planted some Moss Rose in it yesterday. This wagon and I will never part.</span><span style="font-family:arial;"><br /></span><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214457770022118194" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_oyZ-qVSfGLc/SF15tuZxozI/AAAAAAAAAmQ/wPUMUBfF3Vs/s400/DSCF4955.JPG" border="0" /> <strong><span style="font-family:arial;">We Are Going Nuts!</span></strong><br /><span style="font-family:arial;">Hubby and I talked about planting pecan trees on this property when we got enough money to get the trees. Well, my sweet brother-in-law (Hubby's baby brother) brought us a bunch of pecan trees that came up in his yard. I just love the way God uses people to bless our lives.<br /></span><br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="http://bp0.blogger.com/_oyZ-qVSfGLc/SF14_jqHplI/AAAAAAAAAmI/0uDDA4dzFWc/s1600-h/DSCF4953.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214456976863897170" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_oyZ-qVSfGLc/SF14_jqHplI/AAAAAAAAAmI/0uDDA4dzFWc/s400/DSCF4953.JPG" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family:arial;">I just love peaches. I do believe the peach is my very favorite fruit! I wish I could say that our peach tree is loaded with peaches but I think Hubby counted only six. They sure look yummy. Maybe next year we'll get a bumper crop!</span></div></div>Katydidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10884918448853796408noreply@blogger.com
