What to do with a broken birdbath

The birdbath bowl was broken during the 2007 Ice Storm. Hubby and Son threw it all in the ever growing trash pile. I saw it there. That night I lay in bed and starting thinking about that birdbath. Artists tend to do that. We lie in bed at night and think and create in our minds. When we finally see it all come together in our minds we can sleep...but not until then. The pictures tell the story of the rescued birdbath.
Here is the column of the birdbath.
I will probably put a cement faerie or something
on top of this. Or maybe just leave it as is.

Here is what the Ice Storm did!

Here is where I come in.

Whack! Whack! Whack!

I just cleaned them up and painted the words on them.

I will probably just scatter these throughout my flower beds.
*Extra benefit: Besides being pretty I am hoping they will cause
some discomfort to my dog when he tries to lay on my flowers.

Welcome Spring 2008!

The Adorable Vintage Travel Clock
Silver Serving Dish with Lid
Silver Chaver with wood handle.
The birds are singing like crazy outside. They seem so excited about the first day of Spring!

I had a pretty good day yesterday. It had rained the two days before and I was tired of being couped up so LuLu and I went shopping. I found two great silver items and when I went to check out I spotted the sweet little vintage travel clock sitting on the counter. I snatched it up fast! Unfortunately, it did not have a price on it. I finally got the guy in charge to price it (he wasn't suppose to). Anyway, I got it for $3.50! No it doesn't work but SO! Haha! I will probably set it on my hubby's night stand for display. That will probably drive him nuts with it having the wrong time and all.

Back to the vintage silver items. Are they not gorgeous or what! The silver chaver uses oil to keep food warm. I passed up a silver covered dish the other day so when I saw this one yesterday I had to get it. Anyway, I was tickled to death to find these!

Book Shelf Makeover!

What's a girl to do on a rainy, rainy day!?!
Plain Shelf

Family Pictures and Grandmas purse and Bible

Hubbys Books and more family pictures

Here it is!

I have noticed several book shelf makeovers and I desperately wanted to do something with mine. I have it in my bedroom and the "wood finish" is similar to my bedroom set so I did not want to paint it. So I added different pieces of wallpaper prints to the back. I am very pleased with the finished product.

Feels Like Spring to Me!

Pretty Plate (Can you believe the original price on the back of this was almost $50!)
I bought a service of 8, plus platter, sugar and creamer and a serving bowl all for $15!
Basket of Bunnies and Roses
Bunny Love

Had to go to town yesterday to take care of some business. LuLu and I was headed for the bank and drove past a yard sale. "That looks like a good one" I said to her. ( I will be real honest and say I am not fond of garage sales and I will post why sometime later). Anyway, I turned the car around and we went back. We found a quite a few treasures. The plate in picture is one of two identical plates that I gave $1 each for. I gave one of them to my oldest daughter. She loved it! Daughter LuLu snatched up most of the goodies and has them in her room now. She's such a Stinker!

I have been trying to do some Spring decorating and wanted something for Easter. I bought the huge basket at a thrift store a few years ago. I thought that would be a great place to put my new bunnies. The dishes in the pic were purchased at a T-store also. I got the whole set for next to nothin'! Let me know what you think. Have a fun pre-Spring day!

From Blah to BLISS!!

Red Rose Print 11X14 (After)
Pink Rose Print 11X14 (After)

8X10 Pink Rose Print (Before)
8X10 Red Rose Print (Before)

I've had these rose prints for a few years. They are beautiful prints but always seemed a little dull in those frames. This project was a lot of fun and I can't wait to find the perfect place to hang them in my home. Thanks for peeking and have a nice weekend!

Thriftin' Wednesday

Wooden Salad Bowl Set and
Sunflower Photo Box (really cute!)

Adorable Wood Chest
(I think she would have fought someone over this

Butterfly picture
(She Looooves Butterflies)

My girls, the grandmunchkin, and I met up at the thrift store today. I had quite a few things in my basket when my youngest daughter LuLu really kicked into gear! She usually finds a cute top or skirt and maybe a what-not now and then but today was different. To make a long story short, ended up putting everything back and bought only for her. She really loves the Anthropologie style. I posted pics of her stash. Enjoy!

Thoughts of Daddy today

Daddy and me
Daddy, Mama, my sisters and me

Two years ago today I lost the most wonderful person in my life, my daddy. He was so funny! He loved and adored my mother, my two sisters and I. He was the best grandpa too! It was the saddest day to our whole family the day he passed away.

I miss you Daddy! I will always love you. Wish I could hug you and kiss the top of your snow white hair today.
