Thrift store Tuesday!

I had the little Grandmunchkin Monday night and met up with his mama at the thrift store (a great meeting place) Tuesday to give the little one back. I found a few neat things while I was there.I bought this gorgeous Vase/Candle holder for $3.50! It stands about 10"-12" tall.

I like to collect these old scrapbooks for future Altered Art Picture Albums for the zillions of pictures I own!

Very cute Vintage black eyelet number for LuLu. She loved it! Of course she wants it shortened and taken in a little. It is SNAZZY! Oh, to be young again! (and tiny)

I did not find this at the thrift store. It was in one of the many piles of stuff we are getting rid of. It is a part of an old hanging light that I am going to turn into "something else". Anyway, I thought it looked like a little crown so I have it sitting on my coffee table. It's just me.

This is an old album that my daddy brought home from Japan about 45 years ago! Isn't it beautiful?

Great Garage Sale Find!

My daughter and son-in-law went to a garage sale last Saturday and found this armoire. She knew I had been wanting one ever since we moved out here on the farm. The sellers were asking ONLY $125.00 OBO and daughter got it for $100!!! It is huge! It measures 48" across and has the black distressed finish. An armoire like this usually cost $1,000 plus in any furniture store. I am so happy, happy, happy!!

Essie Mae

Essie Mae was my paternal grandmother. She was quite a free-spirited woman. Quite the contrast compared to my maternal grandmother Pearl. Pearl was a big breasted, warm and loving mother of 14 children and grandmother to over 60 grandchildren. Essie Mae, on the other hand, was the mother of two. She wasn't what one would call motherly. She married young but I suppose not ready for the mother/wife role. She loved to go, go, go and have fun. She loved to dance more than anything that I know. She quit dancing at age 96 and died at age 97! What a woman! Essie (on the right) with a friend

Knowing we were in for some bad weather I went out and took a few pictures of my beautiful Apple tree that was in full and fragrant bloom! The redbuds were also covered with gorgeous blooms. Unfortunately, early this morning we were hit with a powerful hail storm! There was hail the size of marbles coming down with a vengeance. It knocked alot of the blooms off but I think everything is going to be ok.

Wall painting and thrifting

It's been awhile since I posted. I've been taking advantage of dry days by working on my flower beds and such. Yesterday it was pouring cats and dogs again so I thought it would be a good day to go to daughter Amanda's and paint that wall mural she has been wanting for grandson's room. Later I stopped by the thrift store. I am trying to find some trinkets for a chandelier idea that is burning in my mind. It will be posted later when I get it finished. Anyway, here are a few pictures of the OREGON TRAIL map I painted in Grandmunchkin's adorable western bedroom and the few items I purchased at the T-store. Enjoy!
